Got the new kit in place – the only piece that was still in existence to remove was a wafer thin copper washer. No sign of any fibre washers or the other copper washer.
Tomorrow I shall see if I can get a feeler gauge behind the new washers to see if it’s worth a try fitting an oversize washer.
I still think there is more improvement to go – the free play on the edge of the drum (with other drum and prop shaft fixed) prior to starting was 30mm now 8mm, which I am sure after some bedding in would be a few mm more. Free play on the prop shaft was pushing 15mm now 4mm.
A lot of the play was in the splines as the hub nuts were hardly tight at all – no where near the 150lb.ft they were supposed to be!!
