Found this article in the Clausager Original MGB book. My MGB was manufactured 1975 and a vin that matches the article. So theoretically should have them fitted but over 40 years had been swopped to silver – perhaps when it was restored in 1996. Maybe the gold badges were removed by dealers in 1976 if their 1975 cars remained unsold – who would want to buy a year old model if buying from new? I believe tgis was all MGs including midgets – I spoke to a guy at an NEC show who confirmed his 1975 midget had the gold badges.
Gold coloured badges now on shopping list.
