Mileage – is it genuine?

The car was advertised with 53k on the clock – but how many times round the clock?

The MGB had a 5 digit mileometer so certainly in the case of my car would find out difficult to believe it hasn’t been around the clock – it’s over 40 years old. The mots go back as far as 2000 which would support the mileage but how many miles since 1975 – that’s 25 years.

In the absence of definite proof you can only go by condition and really the value of a car of that age is really based on condition – unless it is a genuine low mileage.

Trouble is if you buy a very low mileage car do you really want to use it too much on the road and put too many miles on!!…… Which will decrease it’s value.
