I recently charged up the battery and noticed that the battery box under the cover was looking a bit of a sorry state.
I know from my records that in the 2011 mot there was an advisory that the battery box was corroded. I could also see the repair that was now coming apart.
After tidying it up, applying anti rust treatment – Kurust – and spray can underseal it was ready for the battery to be put back in.
When replacing the battery lead the uninsulated core slipped out of the crimped on lug. That was soldered back in. Also the earth connection to the body was cleaned up from the rust that must have made a poor electrical connection.
Altogether a good job done.
