I emptied the whole boot area including the spare wheel as i have an occasional knock when going over bumps. Afterwards went for a drive to find it was still knocking!! ….. so not anything in the boot.

Putting things back in the boot it can be seen that a while ago i started storing the spare wheel up side down using a short length of drain pipe as a spacer for the clamping stud. This means i created a useful extra space for storage. I have a bottle of water, some oil and a pressurised puncture repair kit which is wrapped in felt to stop any rattling.

If you’re wondering what the spring is for next to the boot latch then see my posts about my remote boot opener at ……….. https://mgb.tips/category/projects/remote-boot-opener/
