I rigged up a remote boot opener as described in a previous post – see https://mgbtips.wordpress.com/2019/03/17/remote-boot-opener
I was struggling with a way to push the boot open slightly when the catch is released by the remote opener – that is until someone came up with a method used on another car on the MG Experience forum.
This gave me the following idea which seems to work well. The photos explain I think how it works.
I found a suitable spring that fitted snug in a piece of copper tubing. I bent in the top edge of the tube so the spring would screw in and out to make it easily adjustable.
The assembly was positioned alongside the supporting rib below the boot catch and held in place with cable ties ……………… works perfect.
