I replaced the rear shocks earlier this year and having just read that unless these are bolted in really tight they can be a source of knocking going over bumps. Well i had that sort of noise and tried several things to try and find it’s source without success. So thought i would check.

Car jacked up and rear wheels off and checked the shocker mounting bolts. Even though i thought i had tightened them at the time they were no where near tight enough……… but now they are really tight. I guess there will be a torque setting in the manual which i perhaps should have checked.
Went for a test drive and aimed for the bumps that i knew had caused the knocking noise before and nothing! no noise no more ……. well not that noise. Still a couple of rattles to go.
