The standard method of clamping the spare wheel onto the boot floor leaves little scope of storing items within the rim.

I bought a 3/8″ UNF bolt so with a short of aluminium section (or alternatively a piece of wood) I was able to clamp the spare wheel the other way round ie. inside upwards.
This meant I had some useful easily accessible storage space for the jack, handle, wheel spanner and air pump. I placed these within a piece of felt to prevent any metal to metal rattles.
