Having suspected that the timing cover gasket flange was distorted and confirmed that when it was removed and checked on a flat surface – I had 2 choices:-
1. Get a new timing cover
2. Fit reinforcing plates around the lower section of the timing cover flange.
I went for the second option which came from the USA via eBay – £25 for the part, £25 for p&p and what I wasn’t expecting nearly £25 customs duty!!
Pretty easy to fit and after a decent run today……..so far so good.
