The easiest way to remove the trim stud retaining nut is by taking out the headlight assembly. This then gives easy access to the nut rather than trying to get at it blindly from under the wing.
It may always be that the nut is so badly rusted that it will need to be removed by some other means ……. no matter how it is accessed..
