I recently removed the radiator to do another job so had to drain it down. The first time I did this about 3 years ago the only way I could see to do this was to remove the lower radiator hose ……. which resulted in a gush of water going all over the garage floor!

Since then I have found a couple of useful features I didn’t realise were there.
There is a drain under the radiator which when removed will allow a steady flow of the coolant into a container so it can be re-used.

There is also a drain on the engine block which i think 9 times out of 10 will be blocked ……. like mine. Even after a lot of prodding I could not unblock it. I think the only way to unblock it will be when I ever need to remove the cylinder head.
